As I watched "Shakespeare In Love" the other day
and I was amused by the Patron
who was financing the play
and who wanted to be a character
written within that same play.
It's pretty clear
by the way our organization is structured
that our fraternity
carries on this tradition to this day.
My research question is:
Was it very common to have a person
financially support a play
and also have a character part written into the play
for that person to play that part?
If you have any links that support this,
please share them.
