Random Building Thoughts - 2024-02-17

  -------------- HOW? --------------

Who are the Masonic examples
in your life?

How do they exemplify
The Master's Word?

How Do You Exemplify
Those You Would Follow?

 Please! Do tell!

 -------------- MASONIC EDUCATION --------------

-------------- WHOA! --------------

"Religion" and "Religious"
are two different creatures
and should not be Confused.
Freemasonry is not a Religion;
it is Religious organization.
There is but one Religious requirement
 for joining Mainstream Freemasonry.
That Religious requirement
is a "Belief in God".

Woe to those who confuses the two...

For Further Light:
CHALLENGE!

 -------------- SQUARES --------------

 On the Square:

Just as the Points of the Compasses Represent
the Work Goals of the 1st and 2nd Degree
– the Cultivation of the Heart and the Head respectively –
by Extension,
the Left and Right Legs of the Square
Represent the Work actually Done
to Cultivate one’s Heart and Head respectively.

When you have not yet done
this Cultivation Work upon yourself,
but earnestly want to,
you can get a Leg up on It
by examining to what Ritual alludes.

Better yet,
make it a Point to do the Work
that Transforms each side of you
from an Oblong Square to a Perfect Square.

 -------------- MYTH --------------

"Mythology is an organization
of symbolic images and narratives
metaphorical of the possibilities and fulfillment
in a given culture at a given time.
Mythology is a metaphor.
God, angels, purgatory,
these are metaphors."

-- Joseph Campbell,
interviewed in the New York Times,
February 1985

Yes! The map is not the territory
and everything placed upon the map
are mere references.
And when you don't understand "metaphors",
you are bound to and bound by the imagined references
upon these maps as if these metaphors
actually exist as the symbols they represent!

 -------------- YOUR WORK --------------

(Hat tip to Bro. Jason Eddy!)

-------------- COACH'S CHALLENGE --------------

A Few Brothers Ask these Questions:
  1. On which side of the candidate
is the SD supposed to be
while conducting candidates around the Altar?
  2. Why is this?
  3. And how is all this justified
if no one is supposed to get between the WM
and the Altar during open lodge?
You approach your WM for answers to thee questions that are backed by Masonic teachings.  The WM believes this to be an excellent learning opportunity for both the Candidates and you.

He gives you the following tasks to complete and asks you to do so within 24 hours.

You agree to abide by his request.

YOUR TASK:

1) Write out responds to the Brothers questions providing rational and logical reasons to back them up.
2) Anticipate any objections and handle them as well.
3) Come up with series of Q&As that lead Candidates to the answer for themselves.

How do you go about your tasks
and rise to the challenge before you?

-------------- STATE OF THE TEMPLE --------------

There is Currently
so much Rubbish in the Temple
That Hiram Abiff himself
could not dig himself Out,
should he have to rely upon
the Directions of those Misguided Brothers
who came after him.

  -------------- SEE! --------------

Masonry teaches us
that there must always be
some aspect of truly responsive thought
behind your work
or you'll always get what you've always gotten.
Some are consciously blind
 to this Lesson.

-------------- COMPELLED  --------------

<snicker> There are some who
are so Compelled to Help others,
 they can't Help themselves.

 -------------- SHUN --------------

Men Can Be
Surrounded By Light
and Still Shun It.

 -------------- BE GOOD MEN... --------------

 -------------- END --------------
