A Brother Asks: Why does Masonry Address Emotions? 

Coach: Masonry teaches us that people who get caught up in emotions (Passions and Desires) and who haven't learned to subdue (properly guide/direct) them toward proper ends, shall suffer needlessly -- and rightfully so! 

 

Such people are "stuck" and, as it so happens, are in Pain because of it. They shall have no success leaving Emotions behind because they have yet to listen to what their Souls are telling -- often times screaming at -- them. 

 

This pain is their soul beseeching them to listen to the Wisdom being offered! These people may try to fool themselves by summary dismissal attempts, but no one can leave behind their Soul and venture forth successfully. Their Travel becomes torturous.

There cannot ever be any true theology or philosophy without emotions. When you know what Emotions are and what they do for you, you shall agree with this most Fervently. 

 

Masonry acknowledges this connection.  It knows that there is no way to erect a spiritual building without a firm connection and firm foundation with one's soul!

A good start is Emotional Awareness!
