BOOK REVIEW!
THE CRAFT MASTERED!
Completing the Temple
The Fellow Craft Dream
by Bro. John S Nagy
REVIEW by Bro. Clifford Wright
Bro. John Nagy once again provides an exciting spelunking adventure into the catacombs of Masonic allegory and myth. His objective approach shines much needed light into the depths of Masonic myths and brings a unwavering reality to the intended lessons of the ancients. He effortlessly demonstrates the fallacy of modern definitions that have unfortunately replaced the now obsolete meanings of terms and phrases originally used in our precious Masonic lore.
His forthright approach challenges even the most rigid Masonic beliefs and encourages individual Masons to re-evaluate their personal belief systems and, at times, question their own teachings.
This is not a book for the faint of heart or easily offended. This book most certainly targets mentally and emotionally mature Masons who want the Further Light promised to them by our Ritual!
In his work, the Working Tools are highlighted and expounded upon to clarify their purpose and use. He points out that many of the Masonic Working Tools are not immediately apparent and are often overlooked or ignored. Bro. Nagy illustrates and demonstrates the importance, indeed the necessity, of understanding these tools; the tools that aid in the Crafting of better e.
Within these pages of astute wisdom, ever-evolving Masons are provided many opportunities to clear out the fog of modern Freemasonic teachings in their efforts to reveal the clarity of actual Masonic intentions. They will find the truth in our allegory and realize the true Master’s Word, thus adding yet another buttress to his Temple.
The author clarifies and illustrates the necessity of understanding
the importance and proper paths of the Trivium and the Quadrivium. A
foundational understanding of these Seven Liberal Arts are all too often
minimized, if not altogether ignored, in modern Freemasonic education. Bro. Nagy clearly provides the true reasons for their study as they relate to our ultimate aims.
Upon completion of this masterful opus, one is inclined to ask himself:
- Am I a Mason or just another dues paying member?
- Have I made the Working Tools I will use as a Master?
- Have I become a better man?
As for this reader, I am humbly and steadfastly a Master Mason; a better man.

The Craft Mastered! is an exploration into the Craft, also known as the Society of Free & Accepted Masons. It is a direct result of the work surrounding the Building Better Builders series of Uncommon Masonic Education books.
The Craft Mastered! takes a different direction from what has been focused upon in the Craft series. It delves into what ritual directs us to do as Masons, reveals how to lay the foundation of our Spiritual Building, erect a House of Learning and Obtain the Master's Word.
Unlike most things that are Masonic, where the focus is put forth Allegorically, this book delves into the reality of what we are supposed to ultimately create and how to go about creating it.
Fraternally & Sincerely,
Bro. John S. Nagy
