The Irony of Telling a Man
something is Allegorical
and having him take it
as a Symbolic Warning only
Must not go Unexamined.
-------------- HUMOR --------------
I wonder how this advice/prescription
might apply to Grand Lodges?

-------------- EDUCATION --------------
Memorization could be a beginning or an end.
It all depends upon what you do with it.

-------------- MYTH --------------
“There is perhaps nothing worse than reaching the top of the ladder
and discovering that you’re on the wrong wall.”

and discovering that you’re on the wrong wall.”

-------------- APPLICATION! --------------
As it applies to Blue Lodge:
Don't just train your candidates to repeat back ritual...
TRAIN them to question what they are memorizing.
Train them to question everything Freemasonic!
There is no better way to have them become
Traveling Men and credits to the Craft!
-------------- EXPERIENCE! --------------
My experience tells me that Freemasonry
is only a superficial introduction to Masonry
- a prelude to it so to speak.
It also tells me that thinking these two are one in the same
is delusional if you have given the matter any due attention.
There is no doubt in my mind though
that a whole cross-section of the fraternity treat them synonymously
due to not taking the time to examine them carefully,
not thinking about it in depth
and understanding their differences.
But I'm limited in my experience,
so, I could be either mistaken
in this somewhat brief assessment
or surprisingly spot on.
