-------------- HUMOR --------------
One of the most powerful
experiences men can have
is the realization that
what they thought they knew about words
and all their preconceived notions
that they have wrapped around
words in general,
can actually have other meanings
that have nothing to do with
what they thought they knew.
This is the wonderful power
of Masonic Ritual and Lexicon.
It entices men
to actually THINK differently
about everything
they thought they knew.
-------------- UNDERSTAND! --------------
When you know what you're doing,
life is Better.
When you don't know what you're doing,
life is difficult.
-------------- THE LOST WORD! --------------
THE LOST WORD MASONIC LODGE
SOMETHING HAS SURVIVED! in a lodge near you
SOMETHING HAS SURVIVED! in a lodge near you
Has it found you?
Wouldn't it be great -------------- WELL! --------------
-------------- TRUE GRIT! --------------
"It
is, after all,
the dab of grit that seeps into an oyster's shell
that
makes the pearl,
not pearl-making seminars
with other oysters."
-- Stephen King
Sometimes a little grit is a good thing!
What grit do you have in your life?
-------------- PLANNING --------------
Any
Lodge that does not have
a 5 year vision and mission
and a business
plan
that consistently supports them
is subject to a lot of annual
jerks.
-------------- PERFORMER --------------
One
can memorize and perform a play
about builders with the titles
and
words of Builders,
but that does not in any way
qualify the performer
-------------- MYTH --------------
FILED UNDER: EA & FC WORK!!!!
"Now there is a beautiful phrase that I ran into in Novalis:
'The seat of the soul is there where the inner and the outer worlds meet.'
The outer world is what you get in scholarship,
the inner world is your response to it.
And it is where these come together
that we have the myths.
The outer world changes with historical time,
the inner world is the world of anthropos.
The mythological systems are a constant,
and what you are recognizing is your own inward life,
and at the same time the inflection to history.
The problem of making the inner meet the outer of today is,
of course, the function of the artist."
-- Joseph Campbell, The Hero’s Journey
Hence the reason for doing the Work
which the first two degrees direct us to do
- Bring Order to the Chaos of the heart and head.
That's why I GOTTA BE ME!
On the other hand,
On the other hand,
the punishments that you receive
is too often being who you are.
-------------- THE TWO --------------
the experience of far too many
of the growing Freemasonic alumni association.
Wouldn't it be great
to have the two
be synonymous in practice?
Maybe someday...
...hopefully sooner than later.
For Further Light:
The Two!
The Two!
-------------- WHAT TO DIVEST --------------
Your Common Gavel
will do you no good whatsoever
if you don't know
of what to divest from your Ashlar.
Have you a list
of the things that you consciously
and deliberately
divested though your virtue building?
What's on it?
Was it others
who Raised you to Mastery
or was it through your Work
that you were Raised?
How do you feel
about the path you chose
the be raised?
What difference has it made
for all involved?
-------------- TRUTH --------------
"Your Truth"
=
"How you choose to perceive things
regardless of how this conflicts with reality"
