-------------- THE TEST ---------------

  Apprentice Challenge:

Do you Pass Every Marshmallow Test Life Offers you?

AND...

Have you Passed the Masonic Marshmallow Test.html

-------------- COACH'S CHALLENGE ---------------

Your candidates want to know what's behind the "no atheists" rule. They are not satisfied with the standard justifications you provided to them. You are asked to do research and present your findings in a paper.

1) Describe how the words "atheist" and "atheism" were used prior to the 1700s and in the early 1700s by people in England and what meanings they had attached to each.
2) Describe "theism" as it relates to "non-theism".
3) Describe the problems societies of freethinkers would have when a theistic government felt threatened by its activities.

-------------- THE PURPOSE ---------------

-------------- LOST FOCUS ---------------

-------------- INSPIRATION ---------------

"[W]e are the children of this beautiful planet that we have lately seen photographed from the moon. We are not delivered into it by some god, but have come forth from it. We are its eyes and mind, its seeing and its thinking. And the earth, together, with its sun, this light around which it flies like a moth, came forth, we are told, from a nebula; and that nebula, in turn, from space. So that we are the mind, ultimately, of space ...

"No wonder, then, if its laws and ours are the same! Likewise our depths are the depths of space, whence all those gods sprang that men’s minds in the past projected onto animals and plants, onto hills and streams, the planets in their courses, and their own peculiar social observances."

-- Joseph Campbell, Myths to Live By

-------------- PROUD MEMORIES ---------------

News shared with me by way of Alaska...

"Our Masonic Research and Education Committee is doing an amazing job. They brought Brother John Nagy up to Anchorage to give his Building Better Builders Seminar. This all-day seminar had me on the edge of my seat waiting to hear more. It was extremely interesting to me and I found his interpretation of Masonic symbolism fascinating. I would attend this seminar many more times just to review and catch all the information I was not able to catch the first-time around. If you have an opportunity to attend this seminar I would highly recommend it."
