Random Building Thoughts - 2020-11-19

-------------- HUMOR --------------

-------------- COACH'S CHALLENGE --------------

You are asked to train the incoming WM. He has expressed his fears over taking office. One such fear he confides in you is that he witnessed year ago a GM attending an installation of officers in another lodge that has caused him some tremendous anxiety and sadness ever since. He shares that the just installed WM made a mistake just shortly after being installed. The GM took that moment to criticize not only the newly installed WM, but the entire lodge for things the GM believed they lacked now and in the last. He did not hold back on his disappointment and condemnation of them and their lacking efforts.

The incoming WM wants to know protocols, traditions and any legal recourse he can take in the moment if a similar situation occurs during his term.

You are to address the following with him:

1) Based upon protocols and traditions, what are the warranted actions to take in such situations?
2) Based upon "the rules", what authority does a sitting Master have to stop, suspend or defuse a situation such as the one described?
3) What are the right things to do when these situations occur with any visiting "official"?
